Overview
A yatra (journey) to Palitana Temples, on the two pinnacles
of the Shatrunjaya slope, in Gujarat, India, is viewed as the holiest of

Jainism, the initial 23 tirthankaras (individuals who helps other people in
achieving nirvana) have graced the slope with their visit, accordingly blessing
it. Rishabha Dev was the first of the tirthankaras and the fundamental
sanctuary on the slope is committed to him. Nemeinath (a freed soul that has
annihilated every one of its karmas), the second tirtankara in Jainism, is the
main Tirthankara who has not visited Shatrunjaya hill temple.
The slope is named Shatarunjaya, which means the "spot
of triumph over snags and internal adversaries". The sanctuaries are named
Palitana Temples, after the close by city of Palitana. Around 863 marble-cut
sanctuaries enhance the two pinnacles of the slope and the edge going along
with them.
Location and Geography
The Shatrunjaya Hill is around 2 kilometers from Palitana, a
city in the Bhavnagar locale, north of the Gulf of Khambhat (previously known
as the Gulf of Cambay), in the territory of Gujrat. The slope is essential for
the Shatrunjaya range and the higher of the two pinnacles arrives at a tallness
of 2,220 meters. The highest point of the slope offers a decent perspective on
the Bay of Khambhat and the encompassing open country. As a result of the height,
the slopes get a considerable measure of precipitation during rainstorm
seasons, making the emphasize misleading and the sanctuaries are hence shut to
guests during these occasions. The slope is generally covered by Asoka trees,
Jasmine, and Chaitra trees.
There are 863 sanctuaries, every one of them cut from marble, and are accepted to be the biggest assortment of sanctuaries on any one slope on the planet. The high dividers encompassing the sanctuaries provides the slope with the presence of a post. One needs to climb 3,745 stages to arrive at the highest point. There are three unique courses that pioneers can take.
