HISTORY:

                    Bulit in 1424 CE by Bhanani Ruler Ahmad shah(1411-1442),  the Jama masjid of Ahmedabad was probably the largest mosque constructed on Indian subcontinent at the time. Conceived as a part of the emperor's grandiose urban vision, the mosque lies to the south of a royal processional why that travels estware from the maidan-i-shah and the triple gate known as "TEEN DARWAZA".  To the east of mosque are the tombs of Ahmed shah, his son and grandson. A further enclosure, RANI KA HAZIRA houses the tomb of the shah's queen and other royal ladies.

                    Bulit over many years,the mosque complex is centered on a vast paved courtyaed thet is about seventy-five meters long and sixty-six meter wide. the Mirat-i-sikandari (1414-15)gives detailed meassurements of the mosque. The courtyard is entered from three gate, one at the center, it is wrapped by a colonnade on three sides, with the prayer hall occupying the western side. 

The prayer hall is rectangular and covered with five domes. The domes are carride on two hundred and sixty coloums ,which divide the space into fifteen bays or ,three rows of five square bays, each with dome and decorated mihrab along a the qibla wall. Its courtyard facade has a stepped roofline, with tall portal at its center, The north and south chambers ,which are lowest open onto the courtyard throygh five pillared bays of unequal size. The taller center Chamber is flanked by two shorter archtyways and is entered from the tall arched portal with a final bearing dome. Perforated stone screens are pierced into the pillars of the two framing bays. The  portal is framed by two columns which are the remains of two lofty minarets("Shaking minarets") Whose shafts were destroyrd by the earthquakes of 1819 and 1957. Their decoration is reminiscent of the details of hindu and jain temple of Gujarat and mandu area.

                    The original Bhadra for still exisis in distorted shape. Jama mosque is situated outside Bhadra fort area , along the south side of the road extending form Teen Darwaza to Manek Chowk.

                                                                                                                                                                    

                      Ahmedabad was Named after Ahmad shah 1 of the Muzaffaride dynasty who capturedkarnavati in 1411. He established Ahmebadab ass the new capital of Gujarat Sultanate and bulit Bhadra fort on the east of the sabarmati river.

                    The center nave rises up yo three stories in height and is overlooked by balconies from the centerl gallery enclosed by perforated screens. The inscription on the center mihrab comrmorates the mosqu's completion on january 4,1424, ascribking it to SULTAN AHMAD SHAH 1.

                    One of the major highlights of jama masjid is that its that its exterious are beautifully designed and its facades are a combination of solids and voids. The interious of the mosque are adorned with latticework screen there by enabling nuturel lights to enter the hall. The jama masjid mosque comprises of fifteen domes and three hundred pillars which is installed and balanced in a proper manner.
